Atlantic Heat Freezer Baits

A modern classic

An absolute classic within the Baitworks range is the Atlantic Heat boilie. This has been catching fish for well over a decade, and it’s one of our best-selling baits for very good reason.

When this bait was formulated, well over a decade ago, it was on a lake up here in the Cotswolds, well over a hundred acres, that at the time only contained 25 to 30 carp. So it was incredibly important, because the carp in these lakes are so nomadic, that we held them and offered them food that would compete with their natural food. We wanted to give them something nutritionally beneficial.

Attracting the carp’s natural food

The key to the Atlantic Heat is that it attracts shrimps, snails, caddis, bloodworm, everything into the area. As you can imagine, you put, I don’t know, 30 or 40 baits onto a gravel area, and suddenly after 24 or 48 hours it becomes covered in snails and shrimps, everything comes to the party. The carp move in behind it and can’t resist what’s in front of them. That’s one of the secrets of the Atlantic Heat: it’s not only attracting carp, it attracts everything else as well.

What’s in the mix

The Atlantic Heat is your classic fishmeal, a blend of top-quality fishmeals, not the cheap fertiliser types so often used throughout the bait industry. These are your pre-digested, low-temperature fishmeals that nutritionally are absolutely sound. We’ve coupled this with a spice combination, as well as milk proteins, bird foods and nut meals, plus other ingredients which attract those all-important snails and shrimps onto the bait.

Looking after your freezer baits

With the freezer baits, the name suggests you keep them frozen between sessions. But I wouldn’t chuck any baits away. I personally use baits that have gone in and out of the freezer four or five times, and I keep them in tip-top condition by adding a little liquid, because as the baits freeze they dry out slowly. I just put that liquid content back in, whether it’s the hot fish oil, an absolute classic within the range, or the Atlantic Heat dip. Either is perfect, or a combination of the two.
