Apart from catching carp and fishing bait my next love would have to be fish farming, to
watch fish grow from egg to large carp is hugely addictive and massively rewarding. I
always make myself available to help out at Simon and Viv’s fish farm when needed. Only
last week Simon asked if I could help out for the day, so with the alarm set for 5am on I
was soon off on my way down to Sussex to literally get up close and personal with lots of
carp, mud and sweat!
Draining the ponds and moving the fish up to the holding tanks we set about grading and
weighing the fish. I have to say that these fish are absolutely stunning, just to have
these 6-7lbers in your hands and know that they will be off to big fish waters round the
country is positively humbling. I remember last year grading the fish that were destine
for the Carpark lake at Yately before Mick and Roo from Cemex picked them up. That was a
awesome experience that left me buzzing for the rest of the day!
The shot above of these two crackers sums up the day at VS fisheries. A very hard days
graft but very rewarding.

Hi Guys,
Many, many thanks to all of you who attended last night’s Cotswoldcarp.com event. I was truly humbled at the support and enthusiasm on what was a fantastic night of all things of a carpy nature.
Simon Scott delivered, what many are already talking about as, the best slide show experience in the country. It was breath taking to see Simon in full flow – energetic, passionate and totally in the moment, awesome. In the main hall there was complete silence when Simon spoke, so much so, he didn’t need a microphone! It takes a special speaker to hold an audience for over two hours! Top man.
A huge thanks to all who made the raffle the ‘mega raffle’.
Prizes from,
The Tackle Den
Shimano
Trakker
Baitworks
Born and Bred
Bespoke frames
The Carp Society
Churn Pool fishery
Cotswold Rods
Proper job pop ups
Bristol Bait Supplies
Dave Gawthorn
Korda
ESP
Advanced Carp magazine DHP
Thank you guys.
We raised well over £1000 on the night. This money will go directly back into the Cotswold Water Park. We plan to donate fish (carp) to local Clubs etc. over the next year. Full details of our plans will be posted up on the Cotswoldcarp.com website, photos of the evening will be up shortly.
Once again thank you to everyone for making this night one to remember.
Best regards,
Mark

Right, getting ready for the slide show next week. Mr Scott is coming up tomorrow to check the venue out. Looking forward to it already.

What a cold winter we are having! This cold spell just does not want to go away.
With every day light levels on the up it will not be long before may anglers dust off the rods and start to walk the banks. Roll on the spring.
Over the next week or so I will be putting the finishing touches on a number of new products. We have stick mixes as well as oil based glugs/soaks under development and will be due for release early spring. A very exciting time.

Seeing the lakes are still solid I decided to pop back to Bristol to catch up with me old mucker James Ellis and his girlfriend Shannon. They were both visiting the UK from Boston USA. Great to catch up and enjoy a beer or four!!
I didn’t feel to good in the morning but put that down to a dodgy kebab a 2am.
When will we ever learn.
Great to see ya James,
safe trip back m8.
